The PLAY Series of workshops have been designed to allow participants to immerse themselves in particular aspects of performance, with the same playful approach we encourage in our casual classes.

These can be offered as half-day, one day, or two day workshops for community groups, business retreats, industry professionals, or the general public.

Play With Characters (Professional Workshop) – For actors who wish to improve their characterisation, improvisation, and devising skills. This workshop focused on building a unique character through various techniques, then teaching participants how to build narratives around those characters. This is an introduction to Character Driven Storytelling technique created by writer/director Ian Wild.

Play With Shakespeare – Shakespeare can be scary. All those strange words? The iambic pentameter? Hours spent in English class trying to understand the symbolism? Well, this workshop aims to break down all those negative blocks you’ve got against The Bard, and show you the fun that can be had with Shakespeare’s text. Offered to community drama groups, professional actors, and amateur enthusiasts alike.

Play in NatureConnect with nature in a unique way in this outdoor workshop. Through a series of exercises and drama games, participants will be encouraged to embrace their inner child. Run around! Play in the dirt! Spending time in nature is proven to be beneficial to your physical and mental health, so whether you are a drama enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out, there’s something in this workshop for you. (Offered seasonally, location and weather dependent.)

Play With Pride – This workshop uses drama games and characterisation techniques to allow LGBTQAI+ participants to explore aspects of gender expression and gender performance in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment. If you loved playing dress up as a kid, then this workshop is for you! Offered to community groups and individuals.

Unmasked Play – In most drama workshops, participants are challenged to break out of their comfort-zone to explore different aspects of performance. However, for neurodivergent people, the world is often an uncomfortable place to live. So, in this workshop participants are encouraged to “unmask”, allowing themselves to be comfortable. Fidget, stim, be as loud or as quiet as you like while playing a series of drama games designed to help you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin.
